How to take the MRT from Changi Airport to the city
The airport train connects to two useful city-bound routes. Choose the onward line using the station nearest your accommodation:
- Via Tanah Merah: take the airport train from Changi Airport (CG2) to Tanah Merah (EW4), then change to the East West Line towards Tuas Link.
- Via Expo: take the airport train to Expo (CG1/DT35), then change to the Downtown Line towards Bukit Panjang.
Follow MRT signs in the airport. If you arrive at Terminal 4, check the public shuttle connection to T2/MRT. Include the transfer, luggage collection and final hotel walk in your plan.

Changi Airport taxi costs: what gets added?
For a metered taxi, the arrival time changes the total. LTA lists a Changi Airport pickup surcharge of S$8 from 5pm to before midnight and S$6 at other times. Peak periods add 25% of the metered fare; midnight to 5:59am adds 50%. Check LTA’s complete taxi fare rules for your date and time.

Grab, TADA and other airport ride-booking apps
Grab and TADA are available in Singapore. Other options listed by LTA include Gojek, Ryde and CDG Zig.
Compare the quoted fare, vehicle capacity and estimated wait. Check the pickup pin before confirming and match the arriving car to the booking. Private-hire cars use pickup points rather than taxi stands.
At Changi, follow the app’s instructions for the designated Arrival and Ride-Hailing pickup point. A quote for one vehicle type may not suit a larger group or several bags. Confirm how waiting, cancellation and extra charges work for the booking you select.
Private limousine and pre-booked airport transfers
A pre-arranged car can suit visitors who value a confirmed vehicle size, a pickup organised before flying or help coordinating a group. Ask the provider for the full cost and the exact meeting arrangements.
- Confirm how many people and bags the booked vehicle can carry.
- Ask when chargeable waiting begins and how a delayed flight is handled.
- Check whether meet-and-greet, a child seat or additional stops are included.
- Keep the driver or dispatch contact and cancellation terms available offline.

Keep your hotel name, street address and booking confirmation offline. Confirm which entrance or driveway the driver should use.

Include the terminal connection, station transfer and final walk. Look at the area where you are staying before choosing a route.

Have a working travel card or accepted payment method ready. Keep a backup for a declined card or an app booking that cannot complete.
Protect the first evening
