A PRACTICAL FIRST-VISIT ROUTE
Singapore 3-day itinerary for first-time visitors
Follow three clear days: Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown and Little India, then the Botanic Gardens and a museum.
DAY 01 / WATERFRONT & GARDENS
Marina Bay Sands + Gardens by the Bay
Route: Merlion Park → Marina Bay Sands waterfront → Gardens by the Bay
One compact waterfront day. Choose a paid conservatory only if it fits your interests and ticket plans.
- 09:00–11:00MorningMain stopPlan the Marina Bay walk
Merlion Park & Marina Bay Sands waterfront
Start at Merlion Park, then continue toward the Marina Bay Sands side if you have energy. Choose a turn-back point instead of trying to complete every side of the bay.
- 11:30–13:00Lunch + pauseMeal breakSee Lau Pa Sat food notes
Lunch near Marina Bay
Eat and take a sheltered break before the next outdoor block. Lau Pa Sat is one possible food-centre detour; check the stalls actually open.
- 14:00–17:00AfternoonMain stopPlan Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay
Choose the outdoor gardens, a ticketed conservatory, or a mix of both. Check live admission and any timed-entry requirement before buying.
- After 18:00EveningFlexible finishSee waterfront route
Marina Bay skyline
Return to one comfortable viewpoint if you have energy. Confirm any show schedule with the operator; dinner near your hotel is also a good finish.
Shorten the exposed waterfront walk and consider an exhibition at ArtScience Museum after checking its programme and tickets.

Chinatown + Little India
Route: Chinatown → Maxwell Food Centre → Little India
Keep the morning and afternoon in two neighbourhoods. Kampong Gelam can replace Little India; there is no need to rush through both.
- 09:00–11:30MorningMain stopUse the Chinatown walking guide
Chinatown streets
Walk the streets around the heritage core. Follow visitor rules at places of worship and give yourself time for a few unplanned stops.
- 12:00–13:00LunchMeal stopSee Maxwell Food Centre
Maxwell Food Centre
Choose from stalls operating that day rather than building the whole visit around one queue or a promised dish.
- 14:00–16:30AfternoonMain stopUse the Little India guide
Little India
Explore the Serangoon Road and Tekka area at a relaxed pace. Leave time to step indoors and cool down.
- EveningDinnerFlexible finishBrowse local food choices
Eat near your afternoon stop
Stay in the area for a meal that suits your appetite. Check current menus and closing times rather than adding a distant dinner stop.
Replace Little India with Kampong Gelam for the mosque precinct, independent shops and a different dinner area.

Botanic Gardens + National Museum
Route: Singapore Botanic Gardens → lunch → National Museum of Singapore
A calmer final day with an outdoor morning and an indoor afternoon. If you fly out today, choose just one stop and leave a generous airport buffer.
- 08:30–11:00MorningMain stopPlan the Botanic Gardens
Singapore Botanic Gardens
Choose one entrance and one garden area to explore; the grounds are large. Check the particular garden or attraction you want to enter.
- 11:30–13:00Lunch + transferMeal breakPlan the MRT or bus journey
Lunch before the museum
Allow an unhurried meal and travel time to the Civic District. Check your route from the entrance you actually use.
- 14:00–16:30AfternoonMain stopPlan the National Museum
National Museum of Singapore
Pick the exhibitions that interest you and check the current programme, ticket category and opening arrangements.
- EveningFinishOptional finishSee the Civic District walk
Civic District stroll or departure buffer
If you are staying, take a short Civic District walk before dinner. On departure day, skip this stop and confirm luggage collection and the airport journey first.
Choose Sentosa for a resort day, or Katong and Joo Chiat for shophouses and food. Each replaces the entire day, rather than fitting between museum stops.

Choose what fits your trip.
The Botanic Gardens and National Museum are the default Day 3. Pick one alternative below if it suits you better.
BEFORE YOU SET OFF
Make the plan work for you.
Tickets & opening times
Check the linked official venue pages before paying. Conservatories and museums can change exhibitions, time slots, opening arrangements and prices.
Transport & walking
Look up each day's first stop and hotel return. This schedule leaves transfer and rest time; shorten a block if heat, rain or tired feet slow you down.
MRT and bus guideBudget & departure
Waterfront and neighbourhood walks can keep spending lower; paid attractions are choices. An arrival or flight day needs fewer stops and a generous airport buffer. Compare Changi Airport to city transport before setting your first-day schedule.
