Check entry documents and the SG Arrival Card before you fly, then choose between MRT, buses, taxis, ride-hailing apps and private limousine transfers.
PLAN WITH CONTEXT
A better pre-departure sequence
Work through the items that are easy to miss before you land. Official rules can change and depend on your circumstances.
A week before
Check ICA’s entry page for your passport, visa status and any health-related requirements. Review accommodation details, flight arrival, travel insurance terms and a realistic first-night transfer. Save relevant confirmations offline.
Within the arrival-card window
Submit the SG Arrival Card within three days, including your arrival day, unless an exemption applies. Use ICA’s free official submission channel at www.ica.gov.sg. The arrival card is not a visa; check visa requirements separately for your travel document.
On departure day
Charge devices, keep your hotel address and transport plan available without mobile data, bring a backup payment method and leave enough time for immigration and bags. A flexible first evening is more reliable than a timed attraction immediately after landing.
GETTING AROUND / DOOR-TO-DOOR OPTIONS
Taxis, ride-hailing or a private limousine?
MRT trains and public buses are useful for everyday sightseeing. A taxi, app-booked car or arranged transfer may suit luggage, a group, a late arrival or a journey with fewer transfers. Compare the whole trip, including the fare, waiting time and pickup point. Start with our MRT and bus guide for public transport, or compare arrival options in our Changi Airport to city guide.
Metered taxis
Use a designated taxi stand, hail a taxi where permitted or book through an operator. Street-hailed rides use a meter; booking, peak-period, late-night and location charges may add to the fare. Check accepted payment methods. At Changi Airport, follow signs to the official arrival taxi queue.
Book a taxi or private-hire ride through the Grab app. Compare the available ride types, quoted fare and estimated wait before confirming. Check whether extra charges apply, choose a suitable vehicle and follow the assigned pickup location.
TADA is another ride-booking app available in Singapore. Compare its current quote and available vehicles with your other options. Before booking, check the pickup pin, payment method and any waiting or cancellation terms. Match the driver and car details before boarding.
You can pre-book a private limousine or chauffeured car through a provider or your hotel. Confirm the passenger and luggage capacity, total price, meeting point, waiting allowance and cancellation terms. For airport pickups, ask whether meet-and-greet service and flight-delay waiting are included. Changi’s Ground Transport Concierge also offers arranged airport transfers.
Other booking apps include Gojek, Ryde and CDG Zig. Compare live quotes and vehicle availability for your actual journey.
At Changi, app-booked rides use the designated Arrival and Ride-Hailing pickup points. Check public transport operating hours if you land late, and use the correct pickup area for your chosen service. Options checked 8 October 2026 against LTA’s transport guide, Grab and Changi Airport. Fares, service availability and booking terms can change.
01
Entry documents
ICA states that non-Singapore passport holders need at least six months of passport validity. Visa requirements depend on your travel document. Check ICA’s official entry requirements for the full requirements and exceptions.
02
SG Arrival Card
Submit within three days including your arrival day, unless an exemption applies. Submission through ICA is free. It is not a visa, and submitting it does not guarantee admission. Official information and free submission: ICA website — www.ica.gov.sg.
03
Pack for outdoor time
Bring light clothing, an umbrella, water and comfortable footwear. Build sheltered stops into the middle of a walking day and avoid treating a tropical afternoon like a cool-weather city walk.
04
Connectivity and money
Arrange a usable data connection or download routes before leaving Wi-Fi. Carry a backup payment method and some cash. Review your mobile roaming and bank charges before the trip.
