7 DAYS / THE CLASSIC FIRST VISIT
Singapore 7-day itinerary for first-time visitors
A week lets you make fewer compromises. This route separates the heritage districts, gives Mandai its own day and keeps a spare pocket for rain or a place you want to revisit.
By sgtripify editorial · Plan revised 8 October 2026 · 7 full sightseeing days
The rhythm: The seventh day is a flexible finish, not a demand to buy one more ticket. Swap adjacent days around weather and opening calendars.
Check the linked attraction guides for dated hours and admission snapshots, then confirm the operator's live calendar for your travel dates. Arrivals and departures need their own buffer; shorten a day if your flights overlap it.
DAY 01
Waterfront orientation
Morning
Walk a manageable section of Marina Bay and learn the geography before buying attractions. Start later if this is your first full day after a long-haul flight.
Afternoon
Visit Gardens by the Bay, choosing outdoor paths or one conservatory. Leave time for the connections within the grounds and a sheltered rest.
Evening
Eat nearby, then enjoy the skyline at your own pace. Confirm the current light-show schedule only if you are planning around it.
DAY 02
Chinatown and the river
Morning
Explore Chinatown with time for a heritage stop and a hawker meal. Focus on a few streets rather than covering every block.
Afternoon
Follow the Singapore River toward the Civic District or visit Asian Civilisations Museum for a wider Asian context. Check its current ticket type and galleries.
Evening
Keep the riverfront dinner simple. The walk is optional if rain or heat changes your afternoon.
DAY 03
Kampong Gelam and Little India
Morning
Give Kampong Gelam its own morning: mosque surroundings, shophouses and questions about the neighbourhood’s history. Observe visitor rules in places of worship.
Afternoon
After a break, move to Little India for markets, textiles and a meal near your chosen route. The two areas are distinct; do not frame them as a single interchangeable “heritage” stop.
Evening
Eat in Little India, then return. Leave space for a guided walk in either district if that would deepen your visit.
DAY 04
Gardens and the Civic District
Morning
Start in Singapore Botanic Gardens with an entrance and exit chosen in advance. Visit the Orchid Garden only if it is genuinely an interest and you have checked admission.
Afternoon
Choose one museum: National Gallery for Singapore and Southeast Asian art, or the National Museum for a city-history emphasis and its live 2026 gallery status.
Evening
A short Fort Canning walk may fit before dinner, but skip it if the gardens already used your walking energy.
DAY 05
Wildlife at Mandai
Morning
Choose Singapore Zoo for a broad animal day or Bird Paradise for immersive aviaries. Both need travel time and a slow route through the park.
Afternoon
Use the included tram or shuttle where it helps, take a long meal break and respect current animal presentation notices. Avoid trying to exhaust both parks.
Evening
Night Safari is an optional separate ticket and timeslot, suitable only if you can manage a long day and late return. Otherwise keep the evening free.
DAY 06
Sentosa, your way
Morning
Choose a beach outing or Universal Studios Singapore before travelling. Check ticket date, park calendar, age or height requirements if rides are the draw.
Afternoon
Stay within the island experience you chose. A full theme-park visit may take the entire afternoon; a beach visit leaves more flexibility.
Evening
Return from Sentosa and make dinner easy. Do not book a timed mainland attraction immediately after a variable queue day.
DAY 07
Katong and a closing chapter
Morning
Explore Katong and Joo Chiat for east-side streets and food. Keep your route compact and remember these are residential and commercial streets.
Afternoon
Use the final afternoon to revisit a favourite museum, take an ArtScience exhibition, or rest. Compare the live ticket and opening details before committing.
Evening
Finish near your accommodation. If you depart tonight, allow for luggage collection and airport travel; Jewel is an optional airport add-on only with ample time.
Turn the route into your trip
Start with accommodation and transport, then book only the attractions you would be disappointed to miss. Use the rest of the day as a flexible outline. If heavy rain or heat interrupts an outdoor block, switch to an indoor choice you already checked rather than racing between distant districts.
